Adrian Rogers Quote:

Can I lose my salvation?

I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I've been told, though, that I can lose the salvation that I have. If I can lose my salvation, how can I ever live in peace?

Imagine a child whose family standing depends on his behavior. If he is good today, he stays; but if he misbehaves tomorrow, he has to leave. The love of his father is conditional. This child would be a neurotic mess.

Unfortunately, there are some Christians walking around in near despair because they fear losing their salvation, being kicked out of the family.

If you have been born again, you are part of God's family regardless of your behavior. But if you are born again, it will show in your behavior. If you belong to Christ, you are part of the family and can enjoy the emotional security our Heavenly Father wants us to experience.

Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand" (John 10:27-29).

Believing that one can lose one's salvation is saying that Christ's sacrifice on the cross was inadequate. On the cross, Christ said, "It is finished" (John 19:30). These words also mean "paid in full." He paid the full price. If you truly have accepted the gift of salvation, you are fully forgiven - for sins past, present and future. There is a difference in relationship and fellowship. Relationship is established by birth, and fellowship is established by life. A Christian out of fellowship may be chastened, but he cannot lose his relationship established by the new birth.

The Apostle John wrote, "These things I have written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God; that you may know that eternal life" (1 John 5:13).

If you have salvation, you know it. And if you have it and know it, you can never lose it.

Apparently such passages of Scripture that say 'IF YOU CONTINUE Steadfast in the faith, grounded and unmovable' Col1:23, mean nothing to these wolves. As well as 'IF YOU HOLDFAST that Word I preached' 1Cor15:1-2. One of the worse things about these men is their supposed 'scholarship.' Nearly all of them have attended seminary and taken what our society terms as 'higher education.' Yet they continue to LIE and Miss-lead you concerning the 'meaning' of words. They all use the John 10 passage to prove their point of eternal security, yet is Jesus REALLY saying that there's no possibility of being 'plucked' away? A close examination of the word, 'snatch' in that passage will quickly reveal that the Greek translation would be better stated, "To unexpectedly be snatched away." (the same word is used in 1Thess4:17, 'caught up', modern rendering, 'rapture' Which is certainly an 'unexpected' catching away described in this passage.)  Thus without question, the John 10 passage is NOT speaking of 'never' being snatched or plucked away from Christ, but is saying that nothing 'unexpected' will come along and snatch you away. That's why MANY other passages WARN about falling away.

The 1John5:13 passage is also being distorted to fit his doctrine. CLEARLY it is saying in the Original translation, "These things I have written to you that believe in the Name of Jesus that you may CONTINUE to believe!" THEN it translates into eternal life, on CONDITION that you Continue in the faith. The contention here is not their 'lack' of scholarship, but their apparent 'distortion' of the truth in view of the facts! Words mean what they mean, whether of ancient language or not. Leading someone to believe that a word in a passage of scripture has a 'slightly' different meaning that the original writer intended, is willful negalance. This is done intentionally, there is NO other explanation! If these men have indeed studied the ancient language of Scripture, they KNOW that the meaning of these words have MUCH more significance than they are implying. Thus when they say 'one' thing, to support their doctrines, it's likely to have the EXACT Opposite meaning of Scripture, so BEWARE!
