The Law of Faith

The scripture says that; 'Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness.' Rom4:3 and it goes on to point out this important truth, 'But to him who does not work but believes on HIM who justifies the ungodly his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:

"Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin!" Rom4:5-8

Is this therefore the whole essence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Believe on HIM and that's the end of it, no 'works' whatsoever involved. Merely 'believe & confess' (Rom10:9-10) and thou shall be saved forever more! Nothing can then Snatch you out of His hand or Separate you from His love. You are 'saved to the utter most', sealed unto the day of redemption & Kept by the Power of Almighty God! Millions are convinced that Nothing more is involved in salvation. "IT'S NOT OF WORKS!" is the battle cry of modern Christianity.

But what does the Bible REALLY teach about salvation? Is it enough to have a moment of true faith in Jesus Christ and then be guaranteed of heaven when you die? Some of the most prominent teachers & preachers alive today would say so. In fact, they would stake their entire reputation & eternal destiny on it! But what if they are wrong? Have you ever considered the possibility that the Bible may have something more to say about salvation & faith? You owe it to yourself to find out! Don't you think? After all, this is the ONE issue that you definitely DON'T want to be wrong about. Since the consequences are irreversible.

Ask yourself therefore, What is 'The Law of Faith" Rom3:27 What does the Bible mean by saying, "Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? NO, but by the LAW OF FAITH!" (Now most of these things are exceedingly simple, but hidden to the natural man because he does not have a love of the truth. 1Cor2:14, 2Thess2:10)

Read John3:20-21 "For everyone doing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed. But he who does the Truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

Simply Stated: The Law of Faith, is Obedience to the Truth! Here's proof:

Rom1:5 "We have received grace and apostleship for Obedience to the faith among all nations for His Name."

Rom6:16-18 "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slave whom you Obey, whether of sin to death or OBEDIENCE to righteousness. BUT God be thanked that though you were slaves to sin, yet you OBEYED from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered, and having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness!"

Rom16:26 "But now the Gospel has been made manifest, and by the prophetic scriptures has been made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for OBEDIENCE to the faith!"

1Pet1:2 "We are elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for OBEDIENCE & sprinkling of the blood of Christ."

Now you tell me, is the act of obedience to God something you DO or something you Believe?

Next, the Law of Faith uses the WORD of God to WORK in you who believe! Since you have OBEYED from the heart, as stated in scripture, with the full knowledge that Jesus has commanded you to OBEY Him (If you love Him) & Make every effort to Enter by the Narrow Gate, (Luke13:24, John14:15) You have effectively moved beyond the 'faith of devils' (Js2:19, the devils believe & tremble) into a Path of OBEDIENT Faith that will endure to the end!

1Thess1:13 "For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the WORD of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it, not as the word of men, but as it is the Truth, the Word of God which effectively WORKS in you who believe!"

Now you can understand clearly why the Bible says in Rom10:17, "Now faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God!"

Heb13:20-21 "Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to DO His Will, WORKING in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Christ, to whom be glory forever, amen."

Is it the WORD of God that Purifies our Hearts, Cleanses us from all filthiness of the flesh and Keeps us on the Path of Righteousness! John17:17 "Sanctify them by Your Truth, Your WORD is Truth!" 1Pet1:22 "Since you have purified your hearts by OBEDIENCE to the Truth through the Spirit, love the brethren with a Pure heart!"(also:2Cor7:1)

Always keeping in mind that these truths will only apply as you Abide in Christ. He said, "Apart from Me you can do nothing!" John15:5. The failure to produce FRUIT in Steadfast Obedience to the Truth, will result in being 'cut off' from the Vine & thrown into the fire. Jh15:1-6

NO ONE is secure apart from a Continual Abiding in Christ. THIS is the critical difference between what the Bible teaches and what men teach. Can you see it? "MY sheep HEAR My Voice, I KNOW them & they follow Me!" Jh10:27 "IF you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free!" Jh8:31-32

Read John's Gospel and see for yourself how many times Jesus uses the word 'IF' and in what context. Unless the Bible is in error, someone has the message of salvation dangerously wrong!

Scripture says that the Word of God will bring every thought into the obedience of Christ!

2Cor10:5 "Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled!" Why is 'disobedience' to be punished? BECAUSE GOD will Judge those who DISOBEY His Gospel!

Rom2:6-8 "He will render to each one according to his deeds, eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor and immortality, but to those who are self-seeking and do not OBEY the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation & wrath."

2Thess1:8-9 "In flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not OBEY the gospel of Christ."

Unbelief is NOT the only thing that will put you in hell! Disobedience to the Gospel of Truth will result in multitudes being sent away in sorrow, as Jesus Himself states in Matt7:21-23 Whether it is because they did not understand the Law of Faith, or willfully disobeyed God's Word, as a 'hearer instead of a doer' Js1:22, it matters not. The end result is the same.

Therefore it clearly requires, 'Steadfast endurance' to enter the kingdom, Rom2:7. Comparing scripture with scripture as we are instructed to do, 2Tim3:16, we can see that ONLY those who will seek the kingdom by patient continuance in doing good will inherit eternal life. Sheds new light on Rom10:9-10 doesn't it? Those who 'believe & confess', are those who 'follow & obey' and 'continue' to do so. How could it mean anything else? Simplicity personified!

The Law of faith makes the Word of God Work in our hearts, through our obedience to God! God can then Judge us according to our faithfulness to His Word, not the 'works' of the law, but the WORKS of our faith! James2:14-26 and Scripture is then in Perfect harmony!

That's why it says:

Phil2:12-13 "Therefore my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT your own salvation in fear & trembling; for it is God who WORKS in you both to will & to do for His good pleasure!"

2Pet1:10 "Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your calling & election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble & fall down."

Notice the context of these passages, the Phil2:12-16 reference goes on to say that you may become 'blameless & harmless children of God, without fault in the midst of a crooked & perverse generation, among whom you SHINE as lights in the world, holding fast the WORD of life so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain!'

The Working of God's Word in accordance with our Obedience will produce the Steadfast endurance required to enter the Kingdom. That's why faith without works is dead!

In the second passage Peter speaks of the exceeding great & precious promises of God, that through these we become partakers of the Divine Nature and escape the corruption that is the world through lust! 2Pet1:4-11 and it all happens by our Obedience to the Truth! WHY? 'So an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of Christ!' Peter said; as the genuineness of faith is tested and found to the praise & honor of God, we can rejoice with joy inexpressible because we are receiving the end of our faith-- the salvation of our souls!

Now Titus3:7 makes perfect since! "That having been justified by His Grace we MIGHT become heirs according to the hope of eternal life!" Otherwise you have mass confusion.

The whole Purpose of God's Grace is to Redeem & Purify us for Good Works, and it all happens by our obedience to the truth! Titus2:12-14 "For the Grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us to deny ungodliness & worldly lust & live soberly, righteously and godly in this present age. Looking for the blessed hope & glorious appearing of our great God & Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed & purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works!"

Sin corrupts your soul & will lead you into hell, (Gal6:7-9) believing or not. Obedience Purifies your soul and leads you down the path of righteousness to eternal life. That's why it's of the utmost importance to understand the Law of faith. Eternity is hanging in the balance. Peter told the new converts to crave the Pure milk of the Word to grow up into salvation! 1Pet2:2 and adds, 'IF indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious!' The condition stands. Have you obeyed? If so you will know what he is speaking of. If not it's still Greek.

Depending on the imputed righteousness of Christ, Rom4:6, apart from your Obedience to the faith, Rom1:5, 6:16, would be like Abraham saying to God, after he was called to go forth to receive his inheritance, Heb11:8, "I believe, now I'll just wait here for the promise!"

Do you see the folly in this line of reasoning? Simple truth, God Calls, you Obey, He delivers. Yet 99 out of 100 professing Christians in the modern Church don't get it! They are convinced it's faith 'apart' from works that saves, WHY? Because they DO NOT understand the Law of Faith and that God expects a 'More excellent' sacrifice according to that faith! Heb11:4

One of the biggest reasons that the Bible just doesn't make sense to most professing Christians, and as a result they won't Study it, IS the mass confusion over this very issue! The so called theologians have 'explained away' all the hard parts and focused their attention on the single issue of faith not of works, until the truth of God has become of no effect. People are thus 'believing' in Vain & becoming hardened to Obedience. Heb3:12-14

Paul stated the Gospel message in 1Cor15:1-2, in proper context, if you will receive it.

"Moreover brethren, I declare to you the Gospel which I preached to you, which you received & in which you stand, by which also you are saved, IF you Hold fast that Word I preached, unless you have believed in Vain!"

Every element we have discussed thus far is in this declaration. The Gospel was preached, you received it, (faith comes by hearing the Word!) The Word then Works in you, IF you Hold fast, (obey) to it, otherwise your faith is in Vain...(of no effect, Js2:19 the faith of devils!)

Most teachers in the church today focus their attention on verses 3-4 in this text, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, He was buried & rose on the third day. Much like the Rom4:5-8 passage, and that's the end of it! The Law of faith that governs the salvation of our souls & our redemption from the power of sin, is NOT part of the message. Just believe in these facts stated by Paul, that's the Will of God, and now your saved forever more! God will present you holy & blameless in Christ as long as you believe in HIM.!

But there's MORE! Col1:22-23, YES God will present you holy & blameless, IF INDEED you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast and are not moved away from the hope of the Gospel, which you heard, which was preached."

Do you see what this passage is saying? On the Condition that you 'CONTINUE' in the faith, grounded on the Solid Rock which is Christ, with Steadfast Endurance in the face of all trails & temptations, unmovable to the end, clinging to the Gospel which you heard.

1) You are made Pure by Obeying His Word, 1Pet1:22

2) You Stand Fast in His Word, the solid foundation of Christ, 2Tim2:15

3) You are Kept by the Power of His Word! 1Jh3:18

4) No wonder Scripture says, How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation! Heb2:3

But you MUST Abide in Christ, Continue in Faith & Love and endure to the end. (Matt10:22, Mr13:13) WHY is this so difficult for people to understand? Nothing could be more simple.

Give Earnest Heed to the things which you heard!

Scripture calls you to Obedience from start to finish, Heb2:1-3, "Lest you drift away!" God has ordained that man's responsibility under Grace is OBEDIENCE to the Faith. Because we have free will to choose, we Love Him as Free men, in the Newness of the Spirit, not the oldness of the letter! Rom7:6, Rom8:3. Being set free from the Power of sin, we are servants of righteousness, our old man is crucified with Christ that the body of sin might be done away with, so you are no longer a slave to sin! Rom6:4-6, 13

But this WILL NOT happen unless you, by the Power of His Word, in Obedience to the faith, 'RECKON' yourself dead indeed to sin and alive to God! Rom6:11 Then & ONLY then, sin will no longer have dominion over you. Rom6:14, Your self-seeking, secret lust, covetous spirit, jealousies, anger, strive and selfish ambition, will be CRUCIFIED with Christ as Gal5:24 says. Then you will no longer have to make excuses for these things and try to find justification in scripture that the normal Christian experience is sinning everyday in thought, word & deed. (Even though you feel suspiciously uneasy when you read passages about obedience, continuing in the faith and crucifying the flesh)

Do you see now why they had to re-write the Bible? Why the Words of Jesus are NEVER spoken of, only to be explained away as for another time. Why the Simple message of the Gospel is so distorted & misunderstood in our society. To accommodate the carnal behavior of men, Grace has been reduced to a vast scheme of indulgences. Instead of the Power of God to save man from the corrupting influence of sin, it's exactly the opposite! COVER his sin, sweep it under the rug and tell him that no one is perfect, just believe & everything will be fine. The end result is professing Christians who live a lax, lukewarm, complacent lifestyle & NEVER get too excited about the things of God.

You can even convince yourself that you are Entering by the Narrow Gate, making every effort to stay on the Difficult Path of Righteousness and Building on the Solid Rock of Christ, Matt7:13-14, 24-27, Luke13:24, When in reality you are attending church, professing to be a nice person and depending on Grace to make up for your lack of obedience to the faith. The fact that Jesus said FEW would find eternal life doesn't seem to faze you. The 'few' are those who 'believe', that's what you've been taught. But holiness, obedience, service to Christ, are for others, not me. God loves me & I believe, that's all it takes to be saved!

But DO YOU Love God? Wouldn't it be evident by your behavior & diligence to His Word, if your professed Faith was Working in accordance to His will, Purifying your heart & experiencing Victory over the World? (Gal5:6, 1Jh5:4, 1Pet1:22) "For we have become Partakers of Christ, IF we hold the beginning of our confidence Steadfast to the end!" Heb3:14

Can you continue to ignore these things and still enter the Kingdom? "Let us be DILIGENT to enter that rest, lest we fall after the same example of disobedience!" Heb4:11,14 "And let us HOLD FAST our confession!" None of these things are out of context, or mis-translated. The only way Biblical truth makes sense is to take it on face value. The Law of Faith Stands as the Solid foundation of Christ, the question remains to each of you: Will you heed it?
